Foster Parent Program

Have you ever considered fostering a dog or cat in need of a home? Fostering adoptable animals to live in a temporary home opens up more space at the shelter, giving more shelter pets a second chance at a new life!

Miami-Dade Animal Services is looking for foster volunteers to open their homes to dogs and cats in need of a nurturing environment. All foster families must attend a foster training and agree to all foster policies. All medical care is provided by the shelter.

For more information, please contact Luis Mendoza at 305-418-7149.

Make a Donation

Animal Services is always in need of donations as so many animals need care and new homes. Financial contributions and gift certificates for pet supplies and equipment will be used to help promote adoptions, increase public awareness, organize additional educational programs and provide better care of our pets.

All donations to the Animal Trust Fund may be deducted as charitable contributions on your federal income tax filing.

Volunteer

Miami Dade Animal Services is a great place to volunteer! It is a place where you can learn a lot, make new friends and have tons of fun, all while making a positive impact on the lives of animals.

  • Volunteer orientations are held every Thursday at 5 p.m. and the first and third Saturday of every month at 10 a.m.

For those interested in volunteering at Miami-Dade Animal Services the Volunteer Orientation is approximately 1 1/2 hours long and includes an application and background check appointment.

Pet Detective Club

Think you have what it takes to be a Pet Detective? Ready to channel the Ace Ventura inside you? Join Animal Service's  Pet Detective's club and help reunite lost pets with their owners.

You will learn pet recovery techniques, provide lost pet owners with information on what to do to help recover their lost pet, review lost and found pet flyers at the shelter, online and in newspapers, and much more! It’s not all talk! It can be done!

To become a Pet Detective, volunteers must attend a Volunteer Orientation first.
