General Obligation Bonds Projects

General Obligation Bonds (GOB) are a way to finance government capital improvement projects such as those included in the Building Better Communities Bond Program. On November 2, 2004, the voters of Miami-Dade County approved the $2.9 billion bond program which allows the County to issue long-term bonds to fund more than 300 neighborhood and regional capital projects to be completed over the next 15 years.

Richmond Naval Air Station - Building 25 - Military Museum

Military MuseumScope of Work: Relocate this historic structure to a location near Miami MetroZoo and complete its rehabilitation as  a military museum and memorial. Building 25 is the last remaining wood frame building of the Richmond Naval Air Station, which served as control base and headquarters for the blimps that protected the South Florida coastline and the Caribbean during World War ll. The structure was  also used during the Cold War and Cuban missile Crisis as a CIA base and was used as an army reserve center (1970's-80's) and was a marine corps reserve center during the Desert Shield/Desert Storm conflict.
Project Status: Completed
Executed Agreement: $3,000,000

Historic Hampton House Restoration

Historic Hampton HouseScope of Work: Rehabilitate the building as a multi-use center of social and cultural life for the local community, through the Office of Historic Preservation. The most significant representative building of the civil rights movement in Miami-Dade County, this former hotel and entertainment center served as a major social, entertainment and political gathering place during the 1950's and 1960's.

SW 157 Ave Canal Project

SW 157 Ave Canal ProjectScope of Work: Construction of an enclosed canal along SW 157 Avenue between SW 42 Street to SW 64 Street. Said canal will serve as an equalizer by interconnecting two existing canals. Additionally, it will provide flood protection to the neighborhoods directly west of said canal by lowering the groundwater table in those areas.
