Hurricane Irma

As we continue our recovery and cleanup efforts, please visit the Emergency website for the latest information on openings and closings in Miami-Dade County.

Building Responsibly

All construction in Miami-Dade County requires the issuance of building permits prior to construction. Building permits are obtained after submittal and approval of building plans. An important part of the review process is the requirement that structures be built high enough and use proper design to protect against flood damage.

Building Permits

If you plan to construct an addition to your house, build a new house, or for any other type of development, call Miami-Dade County’s Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources at 786-315-2000 for information on how to obtain the necessary permits.

Environmental Plan Review

If you see construction taking place in Miami-Dade County without the proper permits, please call the Miami-Dade County Contact Center at 311 or the Code Enforcement Office at 786-315-2424 to report it.

You can visit our Contractors page for information on how to select a contractor to repair your home after a flood or other natural disaster, or to conduct a search to find out if a complaint has been filed on a contractor working in Miami-Dade County.

Resilience

The goal of this program is to create a more resilient government culture, operations and service delivery in order to provide a more efficient and effective government that encourages and facilitates a vibrant economy, healthy urban environments, smart mobility and effective environmental stewardship.

Since we live in one of America’s most vulnerable communities, the County’s focus is to achieve aggressive water conservation, energy, climate change, and greenhouse gas reduction goals to sustain ourselves, our community and our natural resources.

Initiatives include: GreenPrint, Climate Change Advisory Task Force, Sea Level Rise Task Force and Water Conservation Program.
