Special Operations

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) offers specialized emergency response services to residents and visitors within the County, and when called upon, MDFR extends our capabilities beyond our borders to aid in mitigation of complex incidents at the State, National and International level.

In an effort to deliver the highest standard of rescue service, MDFR has developed the following key areas of response in order to handle large or complicated incidents:

Air Rescue

The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) Air Rescue Bureau provides regional aero-medical transport, search and rescue, firefighting, and tactical support to MDFR operations, and those of local municipalities, state and federal government agencies.

Marine Services

MDFR's Marine Services maintains a 24-hour response capability for incidents occurring on Miami-Dade beaches and shorelines, as well as those occurring in our numerous bodies of water, including the ocean, our bays, lakes, canals and other waterways

Hazardous Material Response

MDFR maintains full-time county-wide response capabilities for the control of hazardous material (Hazmat) and toxic substance releases.

Technical Rescue

Technical Rescue Team (TRT) certified personnel are emergency medical response firefighters who are specially trained in the treatment and removal of victims trapped in complex or confined spaces, such as collapsed structures and vehicles with extreme collision damage.

Urban Search and Rescue (US&R)

To respond to natural and man-made disasters; to provide search and rescue, medical support, communications and damage assessment.

Venom Response Program

The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) Venom Response Program is comprised of a highly specialized team of paramedic firefighters who are trained in response, management, and treatment of envenomations.
