Public Alerts

Staying informed during an imminent threat or emergency is critical in helping make the right decision for you and your family. Receiving emergency information, alerts, warnings and/or protective action recommendations will provide you with guidance in making informed decisions.

Miami-Dade Alerts

AlertsMiami-Dade Alerts is a free service that enables County residents or visitors to receive emergency texts and/or emails regarding public safety issues, recommended public protective actions, or other emergency information.

Residents or visitors who live or work in Miami-Dade County can get this service.

Miami-Dade Alerts will send notifications in the event weather warnings such as tornado, tropical storm or hurricane warnings issued by the National Weather Service or regarding any other emergency which may require public protective actions.

Residents or visitors can register with Miami-Dade Alerts. Complete the fields provided and select the preferred method of communication. Once the registration process has been successfully completed, a confirmation text will be sent shortly thereafter via the mobile device registered in the system. Carefully read and follow all instructions provided.

You should sign up to stay informed of any imminent threats or emergencies. This information would be critical in helping you make the right decisions for you and your family.

Turkey Point Siren System

SirenThe Turkey Point Siren system is comprised of outdoor sirens that are located within a 10-mile area of the Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant. In the event of an emergency at the Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant, these sirens will be activated to alert the public regarding an emergency at the plant and to provide instructions to tune in to local media, television or radio, for specific information or instructions. Announcements will be made in both English and Spanish.

The siren system will be activated when there is an emergency at the plant or during quarterly siren tests.

The sirens will sound within a 10-mile area around the Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant.

People who live, work, visit or go to school within 10 miles of the Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant will hear the sirens which sound off  at 15 minute intervals and provide emergency information or instructions on protective actions.
