Important Global Message

The Miami-Dade County Emergency Operations Center has been activated and is closely monitoring Erika. For any updates about County facilities and services, please visit:

Evacuation Centers

OEM partners with Dade County Public Schools and the American Red Cross (ARC) to operate Evacuation Centers (EC). These ECs provide refuges of last resort for those individuals who need to evacuate and are unable to make their own evacuation and sheltering arrangements, such as with friends, family, or in hotels outside of the evacuation zones.

During evacuations, Miami-Dade County also offers Pet Friendly Evacuation Centers for residents living in evacuation areas, unsafe structures or mobile homes. A family member must stay with the pet. For more information, call 3-1-1 or visit Animal Services Department's page on disaster preparedness for pets.

Emergency Evacuation Bus Pick-Up sites

For those individuals who do not have their own transportation to the HECs, this is provided by Miami-Dade Transit via emergency evacuation bus pick-up sites throughout the County's evacuation zones.

Miami-Dade Transit Agency Bus Pick-Up sites will be activated only for hurricane evacuations. Residents should listen to the media or call 3-1-1 to find out when the
buses will transport people from the pick-up sites to Red Cross Evacuation Centers. Buses that will transport people for hurricane evacuations will have a special notice on the front of the bus where the route information is displayed.

Emergency & Evacuation Assistance Program (E&EAP)

Miami Dade Residents who require evacuation assistance during an emergency should register for the Emergency & Evacuation Assistance Program (E&EAP).
