Emergency Vehicle Zones (Fire Lanes)

The department provides a means for appropriate venues to provide uniform, clear marking of parking zones that enable emergency vehicles immediate and clear access to the structures. Once an authorized emergency vehicle zone is established and the local police department is notified, vehicles parking in these zones can be issued parking citations.

Event Staffing

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) provides professional fire and rescue services outside of regular duty operations. MDFR's Special Events Bureau coordinates all fire rescue staffing and equipment needs for large-scale events that require life safety protective services.

Existing Structures

To ensure and maintain compliance with Life Safety Codes, Fire Prevention Codes and State Standards for the safety and welfare of all employees, residents, visitors, and emergency responders in Miami-Dade County, all businesses are required to have an annual inspection and receive a Life Safety Operating Permit.

Responsible for plans review for all of unincorporated Miami-Dade County and the municipalities in our jurisdiction for the following commercial occupancy situations.

Inspection Routes and Results

If you are a property owner and have an inspection you wish to see the status on, then you are in the right place! All you need to do is enter your permit number and select a date and press the search button.

Life Safety Complaint

To report a possible life safety code violation in a commercial occupancy, please call the MDFR Fire Prevention Division at 786-331-4800, Monday thru Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

New Construction

The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department, Fire Prevention Division is responsible for the Certificate of Occupancy (CO) Inspections for all commercial buildings whether it is new construction or remodeling of existing construction.

Open Burn Permits

A burn permit is required for all open fires in Miami-Dade County, except cooking fires. Land owners and contractors can apply for a burn permit for land clearing and other farming or agricultural operations.

Anyone seeking to appeal a decision by any Fire Marshal in Miami-Dade County must complete the Fire Prevention & Safety Appeals Board Application , and follow the instructions in the application package
