Web Portal Solutions
Transforming the way customers interact with government information and services, miamidade.gov is engineered to draw on innovative technologies and improved information design. New interaction dynamics are presented to users through an attractive and uncluttered interface, intuitive navigation, and content that is organized and more personal than ever.
Community Information & Outreach also manages, on behalf of County departments, eNet, the employee web portal. Enet is the platform which enables employee communications and productivity applications to be used across the organization. The tool is available to all 30,000+ County employees, and can be accessed outside of the County's network, which are eNet's primary benefits.
Web Content Management
Community Information & Outreach has been helping County departments create useful information for residents, visitors, businesses and employees since 2001, the year our web portal launched. Since that time, the number of web pages has grown to more than 25,000.
The County's Web Content Management system is available for use by departments and other local governments maintaining a web presence. Users can create web pages using templates and publish their content either on demand or through predetermined schedules. The system also offers the option of database population from its templates, website backup and versioning, and workflow setup.
Community Information & Outreach develops customizations to the County Web Content Management system, which provide departments and other local governments greater flexibility in their publishing process. Such customizations may include:
- Custom calendar setup
- Custom content templates
- Database deployments
- Custom content approval workflows
- Custom content deployments to web servers
- Custom content indexes and dynamic listings
Community Information & Outreach develops applications specifically geared towards Miami-Dade's web portal miamidade.gov. Such applications, called "portlets" can fulfill the following functions:
- Real-time display of selected data from any County back-end
- User feedback collection
- Content publishing
- User authentication
In addition to the items listed above, the eGovernment team can be commissioned to develop portlet applications (using Java and JSP), which fulfill any of the following criteria:
Promote better constituent customer service,
Enable the collection of citizen feedback,
Deliver regular service electronic updates to constituents.
Enable information publishing on the web,
Enable information channel consolidation (e.g. online, phone, video)
Community Information & Outreach is positioning itself as the manager of the external constituent contact center. This includes e-mail addresses, phone numbers for text messaging and call-outs, and other info from social networking sites. The tempered use of the list for e-notifications and e-newsletters is of vital importance.

- A notification index allows a citizen to better understand and select content of interest for notification.
Notification is one the most powerful technical solutions to improving public access to and use of government information. Notification promotes wide dissemination of government information in a timely and relevant manner. Based on personal content preferences, e-notification services send timely e-mail, SMS, or instant message alerts with links to highly relevant updated information. Community Information & Outreach can establish departmental and workgroup tabs and pages which serve as a work community's central announcement, document sharing, and networking point. Such collaboration solutions, developed using Java and JSP, include:

- Discussion forum
- Daily schedule tracking (Daybook)
- News and miscellaneous announcements

- ServiceDirect - for management of constituent/client communication
