During the 1960s, Greynolds Park was a popular local site for the peace movement where Miami's ''flower child'' staged impromptu ''love-in's'' to protest the Vietnam War.   It was a place where young people would gather and have poetry readings, bring their guitars and jam out to their favorite songs, much like the coffee houses of today.

In 2004, the Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department celebrated its 75th anniversary of the park system with events at each of its ''heritage'' parks, including Greynolds Park.  With the vast history it held in the 60s, it was only fitting that Miami-Dade Parks Department held its first Greynolds Love-In on May 23, 2004, featuring Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals and Richie Havens as the headlining performers.  The event was a huge success and patrons requested it be an annual event.

The event has grown in scale and popularity ever since.  Previous national artists have included The Spencer Davis Group, Joey Molland's Badfinger, The Classic Rock All Stars, The Guess Who, Chuck Negron, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, The Grass Roots, Jefferson Starship, Felix Cavaliere's Rascals and Richie Havens.
