Move over Seattle and Portland, here comes Miami...

BikersIt is an inescapable fact of life here in Miami, as much as it is in every major city across America, that we are beleaguered by traffic congestion, and relief is needed. The practicality and wisdom of making biking and walking mainstream-transportation options in Miami are undeniable.

Cities like Seattle and Portland provide safe, convenient and affordable options enabling residents to choose the transportation mode that best meets their needs. Daily, more commuters switch to public transportation, cycling and walking in places where such infrastructure investments have been made.

It's time for a similar movement in Miami, and Miami-Dade County's Parks & Recreation Department is proceeding to bring about that change.
