Education is the key to a brighter future and helps open doors. PortMiami continuously supports activities and school programs that highlight the importance and impact of Port operations, the intricacies of global trade and the economic impact that PortMiami has as the 2nd largest economic engine in Miami-Dade County.

The Port is participating in Career Day, as part of Miami-Dade County Public Schools Career Awareness. The event promotes the knowledge and appreciation of various jobs and careers among our students and provides them with an enriching educational experience. Career Day is designed to expose students to various careers through interactive and/or hands-on demonstrations and presentations.

The 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project held their Conversation with a Legend Series on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at iTech @ Thomas A. Edison Educational Center (formerly the Edison Middle School). Congressman and Civil Rights Icon John Lewis was the keynote speaker. Attended by more than 700 Role Model high school boys, students had the opportunity to sit amid history, hear stories recounted and reflect on the civil rights issues of today.

The program was the kick-off of the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project’s  Black History Month Celebration.   

On Friday May 20th, 2016, PortMiami participated in Career Day at Madison Middle School as part of Miami-Dade County Public Schools Career Awareness. 

On Thursday May 19th, 2016, PortMiami participated in Career Day at Sylvania Heights Elementary as part of Miami-Dade County Public Schools Career Awareness.

On Wednesday May 18th, 2016, PortMiami participated in Career Day at Gateway Environmental K-8 Center located in Homestead, Florida as part of Miami-Dade County Public Schools Career Awareness.

PortMiami partnered with the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Program in their Teen Summit Series providing program training to 115 Site Directors and over 3,500 students in 98 chapters for the 2015-2016 school year.

On Thursday May 12th, 2016, PortMiami participated in Career Day at Holmes Elementary School as part of Miami-Dade County Public Schools Career Awareness.

On Wednesday March 16th, 2016, PortMiami participated in Career Day at Howard Drive Elementary School as part of Miami-Dade County Public Schools Career Awareness.

On Thursday Jan. 28, 2016, PortMiami participated in Career Day at Claude Pepper Elementary School as part of Miami-Dade County Public Schools Career Awareness Week.

On Thursday Jan. 28, 2016, PortMiami participated in Career Day at Greenglade Elementary School as part of Miami-Dade County Public Schools Career Awareness Week.
