Shelters

Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services currently operates two Domestic Violence Centers (shelters); Safespace North & South, two transitional housing facilities; Inn Transition North & South, three Domestic Violence Outreach Units, and the Coordinated Victims Assistance Center (CVAC). These programs offer protection and supportive services to victims of domestic violence and their dependents.

The Department also provides crisis intervention and advocacy services, including counseling, information and referral, safe shelter, transportation, emergency financial assistance, food and clothing, among other services.

Violence Intervention and Prevention Services for Families

Provides in home early intervention to prevent recurrence of abuse and neglect by empowering families while preserving child safety. The program works to prevent children being removed from their homes through the provision of a wide range of family preservation services. Individual treatment and family group counseling services are offered for family violence victims and batterers.

Provides crisis intervention and assistance to victims of violent crimes, domestic crimes, counseling information and referral, safe shelter, transportation, emergency financial assistance, emergency food and clothing, and advocacy support. Clinical treatment to offenders and victims of domestic violence and intra-family child abuse.

Domestic Violence Overlay Unit

The Domestic Violence Overlay Unit which provides wrap around counseling services and a unique treatment regime for domestic violence offenders who have been identified by the Advocate Program as domestic violence offenders with a substance abuse problem.
