Citizen Participation

Community Action and Human Services' Citizen Participation Program provides a "bottoms-up approach" to civic involvement that meaningfully and respectfully incorporates the ideas and input of the residents in target areas through Community Advisory Committees (CACs).

Community Advisory Committees

The citizen participation process encourages residents to become involved in their respective Community Advisory Committees. The CAC members are elected by and represent the residents in their communities.

Election Orientation Meetings

A series of Election Orientation meetings will be conducted in 2015-2016 to discuss the election process. Residents interested in voting in the election or running for candidacy will be encouraged to attend those meetings.

Scholarships Now Available

Community Advisory committees will begin accepting applications for their annual scholarships in the amount of $1,500 in February of 2014. Scholarships are awarded to individuals that are currently enrolled in a college or vocational program, or have plans to attend college or a vocational school in the Fall of 2014.

Additional information regarding CAA's Citizen Participation is available by contacting us at 786-469-4640.
