As we continue our recovery and cleanup efforts, please visit the Emergency website for the latest information on openings and closings in Miami-Dade County.

Photo/Film Permit Request

Permits for photography, filming, and associated sound recording at Miami-Dade Animal Services are required to ensure the safety and comfort of our animals and to prevent significant disruption of regular visitors especially in cases that may involve props, camera equipment, lighting, etc. Permits do not provide access to areas normally closed to the visiting public.

Generally, permits are not required for:

  • Visitors using cameras and/or recording devices for their own personal use.
  • Sound technicians, and film or video news crews at breaking news events. In these cases, the Communications staff will still be required to follow rules of safety and protect the rights and privacy of visitors. News media wishing access for entertainment or scheduled purposes may require a permit.

Due to the volume of filming and photography requests received by Miami-Dade Animal Services, applications are handled in the order they are received. Priority cannot be given to last-minute requests.

Permits are available for Tuesdays or Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon only. (Excluding holidays)

Simple requests require a minimum of one week prior to the requested date. Requests that involve multiple locations, complex logistics, and coordination with other County divisions or visitor activities will require a minimum of four weeks to process.

Requests will be evaluated on the basis subject matter or title project. Therefore you are encouraged to attach script pages or storyboards to assist the ASD staff in evaluating and accommodating your request. (Since Animal Services cannot censor content, submission of script and storyboards is voluntary.)

Please fill out the Photo/Film Permit Request form and send by email to asdcomm@miamidade.gov.

Applications will not be processed if submitted incomplete or without adequate lead time.
