Thomas P. (Tim) Abbott has been in the office for 31 years. He initially joined the office in 1968 and then returned from private and corporate practice in 1986. MIA and the general aviation airports in the County are represented by the CAO, and he deals with litigation matters between any of these airports and the airlines, tenants, car rental companies, the US Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration. Recently, he's been the lead attorney for the Aviation Department to negotiate long-term lease agreements with private developers who seek to construct commercial, retail, and aviation facilities on the airports.
Tim has been actively involved in the Legal Committee of the Airports Council International organization, a Washington, D.C. based group that represents virtually all of the commercial airports operating in the country. He's been on the Steering Committee for the past two decades and served as Chairman of the Steering Committee in 2002.
