    Welcome to District 13

    As Commissioner of District 13, I would like to welcome you to my website. Our District includes much of the City of Hialeah, the Town of Miami Lakes and some unincorporated areas such as Palm Springs North and Country Club of Miami. I hope you find these pages, along with the rest of the county website, useful and informative. And as always, I urge you to call my office with any questions, comments or concerns. I hope you take the time to look through Twenty Years of Service, which highlights my service and commitment to you the citizens of Miami-Dade County since 1993.

    Como Comisionada del Distrito 13, deseo darles la bienvenida a mi sitio cibernético.     Mom and Pop Grant Applications now available

    Small business owners in District 13 may be eligible to receive funding with the Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program. Applications are available by calling the Hialeah Dade Development office at 305-884-1219.

    Applications being accepted for Miami-Dade County Compensation and Benefits Review Committee

    Miami-Dade County is establishing a nine member Compensation and Benefits Review Committee to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of its standing personnel policies and to develop policies that will better manage the growth of costs while continuing to provide competitive wages, salaries and benefits.

    New population estimates may help Miami-Dade secure more federal and state funding

    Miami-Dade County's official population estimate just received a major boost, a push made by Commissioner Natacha Seijas to the U.S. Department of Commerce to review its 2008 numbers.

    		Some drivers are unaware of Florida law, which states that drivers and pedestrians must yield the right-of-way to fire-rescue trucks, law enforcement cars, and other emergency vehicles using sirens and/or flashing lights.

    Miami-Dade County Commissioner Natacha Seijas welcomes India's Minister of External Affairs

    Miami-Dade County Commissioner Natacha Seijas, Chair of the Jay Malina International Trade Consortium (ITC), welcomed His Excellency S.M. Krishna, Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at Miami International Airport on his way to the Caribbean.  Minister Krishna, who was accompanied by two members of his cabinet, flew into Miami from Washington D.C. where he attended President Obama's first State dinner honoring Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

    Commissioner Seijas and Florida Local Governments call on Congress to support local climate action

    Miami-Dade County Commissioner Natacha Seijas and Broward County Commissioner Kristin Jacobs joined Senators Mark Warner (D-VA), John Kerry (D-MA) and officials from Virginia and South Carolina to urge support for policies that will create jobs and build a strong clean energy economy in the Southeast.
