Commissioner García to recognize District 13 resident and semifinalist in “America’s Got Talent”

Commissioner René García, together with Commissioners Natalie Milian Orbis and Juan Carlos Bermudez, will present a proclamation to Luke Taleno, a District 13 resident, in recognition of his achievement as a semi-finalist on “America’s Got Talent” and receiving a Golden Buzzer. The proclamation will be presented on Thursday, September 17 at 4:30 p.m. at the Board of County Commission Chambers, 111 NW 1st St 2nd Floor, Miami, FL 33128.

Luis Rojas, known as Luke Taleno, is a Hialeah-raised, bilingual Cuban-American artist, freestyle rapper, and content creator whose journey embodies perseverance, resilience, and the spirit of his hometown.

A childhood leukemia survivor, Luke overcame adversity at an early age and carried that determination into his pursuit of music. After years of balancing his passion with a traditional career, he took a leap of faith to pursue music and content creation full-time, building a grassroots following through freestyle performances across South Florida and connecting with audiences through social media.

Luke gained national recognition through his appearance on “America’s Got Talent.” One year before his audition, Luke attended the show as an audience member and told Simon Cowell that he would return and earn a Golden Buzzer. The following season, he fulfilled that promise, earning Howie Mandel’s Golden Buzzer and ultimately advancing through the competition to the Semifinals.

Throughout his journey, Luke proudly represented Hialeah, sharing his Cuban-American heritage, love for his community, and hometown pride with audiences across the country.

Beyond his accomplishments as an entertainer, Luke has used his platform to encourage young people throughout Miami-Dade County to pursue their dreams, persevere through adversity, and take advantage of the teachers, mentors, and opportunities available to them.

Luke’s journey from the streets of Hialeah to the national stage serves as an example of what can be achieved through persistence, courage, and belief in oneself, and he continues to proudly represent the City of Hialeah as he enters the next chapter of his career.
