Other County Regulated Businesses (Consumer Protection Licenses)
Each business or individual regulated by the Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources (RER) must submit a completed application, pay the required license, registration, or permit fees, and provide the applicable supporting documentation in order to obtain a license, registration, or permit to engage in the type of occupation or business applied for.
The resources below help prospective applicants obtain the information needed to calculate start-up (initial) and renewal license fee costs, download the appropriate application, and become aware of other information pertinent to the industry license, registration, or permit applied for.
Licenses and regulations pertaining to the For-Hire Transportation Industry (taxicabs, school buses, jitney's, limousines, etc.), which is also regulated by RER, is not included on this page.
Communications Service Providers (CSP) that intend on utilizing or occupying any public rights-of-way must apply for a CSP Registration. No public rights-of-way construction permits will be issued without a CSP registration.
A locksmith registration is required of any business or individual that installs, repairs, rebuilds, rekeys, repins, recodes, services, adjusts, opens or modifies locks, mechanical and electronic security locking devices and peripherals, safes, vaults, safe deposit boxes, and closed circuit television systems. Individuals performing locksmith work for locksmith businesses must also register with the department as either a certified or apprentice locksmith.
Motor Vehicle Repair
A motor vehicle repair registration is required of any business or individual that repairs, modifies, or diagnoses the operating condition of any motor vehicle belonging to other persons, regardless of compensation. Individuals performing motor vehicle repairs for any motor vehicle repair business must also register with the department as either a certified or apprentice mechanic/technician.
Motor Vehicle Title Loan
Any person that is engaged in the business of loaning money secured by possession of a certificate of title to a motor vehicle is required to obtain a motor vehicle title loan registration.
All moving businesses providing services in South Florida, including Miami-Dade County, must obtain a moving registration unless the business has already obtained a moving registration from Broward or Palm Beach County.
Pain Management Clinics
All Pain Management Clinics operating in Miami-Dade County must register with the Department.
Personal Injury Protection Medical Providers
Certain Medical Providers that provide medical or physical therapy treatment to patients claiming injury from an automobile accident must register with the Department.
All towing business in Miami-Dade County must be licensed and adhere to regulations covering signage, contracts, vehicle safety standards, insurance requirements, background checks of business owners, and where applicable, adhere to the maximum allowable towing rates for non-consent tows.
Vehicle Immobilization (Booting)
All vehicle immobilization/booting businesses in Miami-Dade County must be licensed and adhere to regulations covering signage, contracts, insurance requirements, background checks of business owners, and where applicable, adhere to the maximum allowable rate for vehicle immobilization.
It is prohibited to charge individual residential or commercial units for water unless it is through the use of a submeter in accordance with Miami-Dade County's water-remetering ordinance.
