Internship Program

Four intern positions have been funded in FY 14-15. The internship year begins at the end of August and finishes on the last week of August, 2014. All interns are considered temporary Miami-Dade County employees.

Scholarships Now Available

Community Advisory Committees are currently accepting applications for their annual scholarships in the amount of $1,500. Scholarships are awarded to individuals from CAC target areas that are currently enrolled in a college or vocational program, or have plans to attend college or a vocational school in the Fall.

Community Service Centers

Miami-Dade County has so much to offer families. You can receive free computer training classes, assistance with childcare, family support services, energy assistance, emergency food and shelter, and so much more. These and many more services are available at your Community Service Centers.

Mayor's Day of Recognition for National ServiceMiami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez joined more than 1,760 mayors across the country for the second annual Mayors Day of Recognition for National Service, a nationwide bipartisan effort that highlights the impact of national service in tackling city problems.


Head Start & Early Head Start Open Enrollment 2014 - 2015

Head Start Miami-Dade County's Head Start / Early Head Start Program is accepting applications for pregnant women and children ages birth to 4 years old to participate in the 2014-2015 program year.

To be eligible children must be three (3) or four (4) years of age on or before September 1, 2014, or no more than five (5) years old after September 1, 2014. 


Apply for the 2014 Summer Food Service Program

The Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department is accepting applications from community organizations to serve as Summer Food Service Program sites.  The Program will operate from June -Aug. 15. Nutritious meals will be provided to all children 18 years and younger regardless of income, race, color, sex, disability, age, or national origin.

The deadline to submit an application is April 30, 2014.

Violence Intervention Conference held by Miami-Dade County

Men against violenceMiami-Dade County hosted a conference to facilitate a dialogue led by national experts in the field of violence intervention exploring ways in which men can become leaders in addressing violence in our community. 




Caring for the elderly -- "There's no place like home"

Olga Reinoso Olga Reinoso sits in her favorite chair and looks out the window at the children playing in the park across the street from her apartment.  At 84 years of age, Ms. Reinoso is one of many seniors and individuals living with a disability who rely on the Home Care Program provided by Miami-Dade Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD).

Utility assistance available

Man and woman with bills Miami-Dade County is currently assisting individuals and families with paying their utility bills through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The program assists individuals with paying their utility bills (gas and electric), individuals may qualify to receive up to $900.00 in assistance.
