National Weatherization Day
Miami-Dade Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD) celebrated National Weatherization Day on Wednesday, Oct. 30 by completing work on Eugenie Moreau’s home.
The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) utilized funds received from the U.S. Department of Energy (DEO) to install energy efficient appliances. The home was also painted and landscaped as a result of CAHSD Home Beautification Program.
Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department Partners With Fed-Ex to Benefit the Community
Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD) joined forces with the Safespace Foundation, Inc. and Fed-Ex, Inc. as part of their annual “Fed-Ex Cares Day”. The event was aimed at enhancing the shelter to improve the quality of life of the participants.
One hundred and twenty-seven (127) employees of Fed-Ex, Inc. participated as volunteers. Work was performed in the areas of painting, cleaning, landscaping, and interior decorating.
4th Annual Golf Tournament and Awards Dinner
Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD), and Greater Miami Service Corps (GMSC) invited golfers to perticipate in the 4th Annual Golf Tournament and Awards Dinner on Friday, October 11, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. The tournament was held at the Country Club of Miami Golf Course. Funds raised will support educational scholarships and programmatic services for GMSC participants.
CALLING ALL MEN: Rejecting the Culture of Violence
Miami-Dade County is hosting a conference on September 18, 2013 to facilitate a dialogue led by national experts in the field of violence intervention exploring ways in which men can become leaders in addressing violence in our community.
Program offers home beautification for residents in District 2
Through the District 2 Home Beautification Program, participants may have the exterior of their home painted and their property landscaped at no cost to them.
Liberty City Community Service Center temporarily relocated
The center is now located at 2500 NW 62nd Street, Miami, Florida 33147. The new telephone number for the center is 305-349-9982. The center will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Head Start now accepting applications for the 2013-14 School Year
Miami-Dade County's Head Start / Early Head Start Program is still accepting applications for FREE CHILDCARE for children ages three (3) and four (4) years old to participate in the 2013-2014 program year. To be eligible, children must be at least three years of age on or before September 1, 2013.
Caring for the elderly -- "There's no place like home"

At 84 years of age, Ms. Reinoso is one of many seniors and individuals living with a disability who rely on the Home Care Program provided by Miami-Dade Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD).|
Utility assistance available
|Miami-Dade County is currently assisting individuals and families with paying their utility bills through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The program assists individuals with paying their utility bills (gas and electric), individuals may qualify to receive up to $900.00 in assistance.|
