Single Family Home Rehabilitation

A major concern of low-income homeowners is keeping up with necessary but costly repairs. This is particularly true of older homes with weathered roofs, worn siding, outdated plumbing/heating systems, drafty windows, or outdated electrical wiring.

The tough choice for limited-income people thus often becomes making major house repairs or watching homes, filled with memories, deteriorate around them. The objective of the Single Family Loan Rehabilitation Program is to provide oversight as Construction Manager for those applicants who have received a house rehabilitation loan through our partner, Public Housing and Community Development.

Upon their approval, the customer is assigned a Housing Inspector who assists the client by issuing a scope of work and aiding the homeowner in the selection of a contractor. The House Inspector then insures that the work is proceeding as planned and according to all pertinent regulations.

In some cases, and based on availability and the homeowner eligibility for services, the County may provide additional assistance through programs that provide supplementary improvements such as energy conservation, storm mitigation, house painting and water conservation.

How to Apply

Individuals interested in this program should contact us directly at 786-469-4730, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Only owner-occupied single family homes with low to moderate household incomes qualify for this program. The application period is open only during open registration for housing programs; check with us for availability.
