Single-Family Home Rehabilitation is another program that can help limited-income residents with home repairs. The program includes the services of a housing inspector for applicants who have received a house rehabilitation loan through Miami-Dade County’s Public Housing and Community Development.
The inspector helps identify what repairs are needed, assists with hiring a licensed contractor and ensures work is proceeding as planned. Examples of repairs include drafty windows; outdated plumbing, heating systems or wiring; weathered roofs; and worn siding. In some cases, additional assistance such as energy conservation, storm mitigation, house painting and water conservation features may be provided.
