Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Areas (NRSAs)
Eligible target areas are based on an assessment of the degree of poverty, need and other key economic indicators. These neighborhoods are then categorized into tiers, with each tier defining a level of need and establishing the foundation for the type and scope of assistance that is provided.
The County’s eligible low-income target areas have been divided into one of two tiers, as follows:
Tier 1 – Neighborhood Focus NRSAs
Nine areas have been designated as Neighborhood Focus NRSAs: Leisure City/Naranja, Model City, Opa-locka, Perrine, South Miami, West Little River, Cutler Ridge, Goulds, and Biscayne North. These areas represent the County’s neighborhoods with the greatest socio-economic needs and would receive the highest level and scope of services.
Neighborhood Focus NRSAs will be represented by Community Advisory Committees (CACs) and will be targeted to receive CDBG-funded neighborhood-specific programs and services.
Tier 2 – Neighborhood Outreach Areas
Four areas have been designated as Neighborhood Outreach Areas: Melrose, North Miami, Sweetwater, and West Kendall. These areas represent relatively stable neighborhoods with high populations of low-income persons but without major revitalization needs.
They will receive outreach, civic engagement support and monitoring. The focus in Outreach Areas would be to ensure that low-income households are aware of County-funded programs for which they are eligible, and to foster their participation in civic affairs.Back to Top Page Last Edited: Fri Feb 1, 2013 3:11:15 PM
