Other Discount Fares

Metromover is free for everyone. Most people with disabilities, Medicare recipients, preschoolers, and students in grades K-12 can ride Metrobus and Metrorail at a discount with a Discount Fare EASY Card, which replaces all previous discount IDs and permits.

How to apply for a Discount Fare EASY Card

Apply for the Discount Fare EASY Card at the Transit Service Center and it is automatically registered for balance protection.

People with Disabilities

Senior citizens who do not reside in Miami-Dade County and disabled riders who qualify can ride on Metrobus and Metrorail at the discount fare with an Discount Fare EASY Card. To obtain a Discount Fare EASY Card, people with disabilities must always provide a doctor's letter indicating the type of disability, medical code and whether that disability is permanent. Applicants must also provide a Picture ID.

The Discount Fare EASY Card can be obtained from the Golden Passport booth at the Transit Service Center located on the second level of the Government Center Metrorail station, Monday - Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays.

Once you obtain your Discount Fare EASY Card, you must load the card with monetary value to ride at half fare whenever you board a bus or train, or with a 1-Month Pass for $50, a 7-Day Pass for $13. Cards can be loaded and reloaded for up to three years wherever EASY Cards are sold. Always carry a valid ID and proof of eligibility to ride at the discount fare.


Preschoolers less than 42 inches tall can ride Metrobus and Metrorail free at all times with an accompanying adult. Metromover is free for everyone. Parents or guardians of pre-schoolers are encouraged to present proof of age to bus operators and rail personnel to access the system. EASY Cards are not issued to preschoolers.
