For-Hire Transportation

The For-Hire Transportation and Omit Division licenses and regulates taxicabs, limousines, passenger motor carriers (including jitneys and tour vans), special transportation service vehicles, non-emergency transportation services, for-hire chauffeurs, and ambulance services. For-hire vehicles, as well as private school buses, are inspected for safety and appearance at our vehicle inspection station. the division maintains an extensive chauffeur training schedule for new and renewing for-hire chauffeurs.

For-Hire Transportation Complaints

For-Hire Transportation Complaints relate to complaints about the for-hire transportation industry. Please note that this does not include Movers and Towers, which fall under the second general category. It also does not include the public transportation services. Consumers filing online complaints are asked to use the last four digits of their home telephone number as a Temporary Complaint Number and to write this number on any supporting documentation they send to the Mediation Center. A permanent number will be assigned after the complaint is received. Information contained in complaints becomes public information and will be forwarded to the business as part of the dispute resolution process.

For-Hire Vehicle Inspections

The Code of Miami-Dade County requires that any company or individual who seeks to provide transportation for compensation be licensed, their drivers trained and insured, and their vehicles registered, insured and inspected.
