Miami-Dade County is dedicated to ensuring that all Park visitors and athletes have an enjoyable and safe experience by partnering with the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) to serve as a resource to parents, coaches, and volunteers.
National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS)
The National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) is America's leading advocate for positive and safe sports and activities for children. The non-profit 501(c)(3) organization is based in West Palm Beach, Florida. Today, NAYS has become the nation's leading youth sports educator and advocate with national programs that educate administrators, coaches, officials and parents about their roles and responsibilities in the context of youth sports, in addition to offering youth development programs for children.
Concussion in Youth Sports Initiative
To help ensure the health and safety of young athletes, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention developed the Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports initiative to offer information about concussions to coaches, parents, and athletes involved in youth sports.
The Heads Up initiative provides important information on preventing, recognizing, and responding to a concussion. It's Better to Miss One Game Than the Whole Season.
Youth Safety Initiative
The Youth Safety Initiative aims to provide a holistic, comprehensive, community-wide approach to protect children, not only in their classrooms, but also in their neighborhoods and local parks.
The Joint Roundtable on Youth Safety was created between Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez and Miami-Dade County Public Schools Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho to unite local leaders, including Mayors and Police Chiefs of various municipalities within the Miami-Dade community, to work together on public safety initiatives.
