There are a variety of housing programs and services available depending on the individual needs and circumstances of our clients. These pages contain information on those programs and how clients and housing providers can either access services or help meet our community's growing housing needs.

Effective Monday, March 16, 2009, The Merline Matthews Center will no longer provide service to Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV, also known as Section 8 program) participants and landlords. As of April 1, 2009, Miami-Dade Public Housing Agency will be contracting with a private firm to manage the HCV program. This change is intended to improve service to you, our customer.

Effective Monday June 1, 2009, HCV clients will be seen on an "appointment only" basis.

As of June 1, 2009 clients will be able to contact the Call Center at 305-403-3222 to schedule appointments. Both telephone appointments and in-person appointments in our office can be requested. In either case, a trained Housing Specialist will work with clients to resolve any issues they may have.

Clients are welcome to continue to visit the office to drop off documents and obtain basic information at our reception desk.

Direct Deposit can help Section 8 landlords and accounts payable vendors save time by having funds immediately available!  It is a safe and convenient way to have your money reliably deposited directly into your checking or savings account. To enroll in direct deposit, download and fill out MDPHA's Direct Deposit form below and mail it to the address on the form.

The Florida Discount Drug Card Program is designed to lower the cost of prescriptions for Florida residents who have no drug insurance coverage. You may qualify if you are age 60 and older or if you are under age 60 with a total family income under 300 percent of the federal poverty level. In light of recent events in the financial markets, many residents are concerned about the security of their funds as well as the stability of their financial institutions. Protect your life savings against economic volatility by staying aware and informed of your choices and options.

• The Link-Up and Lifeline Florida Assistance Programs are designed to ensure that all residents of Florida have affordable access to telephone service and connections in their homes. Customers of participating telecommunications providers can now apply online using the Public Service Commission Secure On-line Application Form.
• Miami-Dade County Community Action Agency's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is currently assisting income eligible residents with payment of their gas and/or electric bill.  Applications for LIHEAP will be available beginning Monday, February 9, 2009 at CAA Service Centers.
