Public Housing Resident Services
Miami-Dade Public Housing and Community Development's (PHCD) Resident Services Unit (RSU) serves as an advocate for resident issues on behalf of the Agency by developing supportive professional relationships with residents and Resident Councils.
RSU staff advocates for, and assists residents with, attaining self-sufficiency through strategic partnerships with public and private service providers to overcome social and economic obstacles. RSU is responsible for facilitating the provision of life enrichment services and activities and fostering positive relationships between residents and the Agency.
Crime Reduction Initiative
Miami-Dade County's Crime Reduction Initiative is an innovative approach to crime reduction and community empowerment involving a coordinated effort by local law enforcement, social service providers and the County.
The role of a Resident Council is to improve the quality of life and resident satisfaction and participate in self-help initiatives to enable residents to create a positive living environment for families in public housing. Resident councils may actively participate through a working partnership with PHCD to advise and assist in all aspects of public housing operations.

- The Link-Up and Lifeline Florida Assistance Programs are designed to ensure that all residents of Florida have affordable access to telephone service and connections in their homes. Customers of participating telecommunications providers can now apply online using the Public Service Commission Secure On-line Application Form.
- Miami-Dade County's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is currently assisting income eligible residents with payment of their gas and/or electric bill.

Help for healthcare prescriptions
The Florida Discount Drug Card Program is designed to lower the cost of prescriptions for Florida residents who have no drug insurance coverage. You may qualify if you are age 60 and older or if you are under age 60 with a total family income under 300 percent of the federal poverty level.
