PortMiami Credentials

To access PortMiami facilities, all individuals must obtain the appropriate credentials. These credentials help ensure the safety and security of the port by verifying the identity and purpose of each visitor, contractor, or employee. Depending on your role and frequency of access, different types of credentials may be required. This guide will help you understand the application process, required documentation, and how to maintain active credentials.
Credentials & Terminal Access

All Dockside and Firearm Permit applications should be submitted to the Credentials Section via email.

For urgent terminal access issues, cartage and trucking companies can call Safety & Security at 305-329-4050.

PortMiami Identification Card

After a PortMiami Business Permit is approved for a Seaport partner, contractor and/or vendor, all personnel needing access to the Port shall apply for a PortMiami Identification Card.  A PortMiami Identification Card must be conspicuously displayed at all times when accessing or working on Port premises. 

Willfully and knowingly providing false information in an attempt to obtain a PortMiami Identification Badge is a third-degree felony punishable by up to five (5) years in jail and a $5,000 fine (FS 775.082 or 775.083).

Applicants are responsible for returning all PortMiami Identification Badges to the Credentials Section upon termination of employment or change of company.

By requesting for a PortMiami Identification Card, applicants agree to abide by all rules and regulations as established by the Miami-Dade Seaport Department and PortMiami Tariff No. 010.

Requirements

  • Port ID Application
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Company Request Letter
  • Valid TWIC Card (If Applicable)
  • Proof of Legal Status and Employment Eligibility (i.e. Passport, Residency Card, Birth Certificate, etc.)
  • Annex to Port of Miami Credential Application (To be completed by ID Section personnel)

Note: Cartage/Trucking companies are required to provide proof of insurance on behalf of all drivers/applicants. Applicants whose proof of insurance has not been received should visit the Permits Section (Suite 115) for additional assistance.

How to Apply

To apply for a PortMiami Identification Card, please verify that your company has a valid business permit and has submitted the Signatures Authorization Letter Adobe PDF on their official letterhead.  To confirm that your company has an active operating permit, you may contact the Permits office at 305-347-4964.

It is imperative that all PortMiami Identification Card holders renew their cards prior to its expiration date. Once a PortMiami Identification Card is expired, a new application must be submitted.

Note: Cartage/Trucking companies are required to provide proof of insurance on behalf of all drivers/applicants. Applicants whose proof of insurance has not been received should visit the Permits Section (Suite 115) for additional assistance.

Applicants whose credentials have been lost, stolen or damaged must obtain a police report through the Miami-Dade Police Department at the Seaport’s Terminal H. This report should be presented to the ID / Credentials Section before a replacement badge can be processed.

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

How to Apply

Pre-enroll using the online application or you can complete the entire process in person at an application center. Visit the PortMiami TWIC Center to:
  • Provide required documentation, be fingerprinted and take a facial photo. Bring your current U.S. passport or a driver’s license and birth certificate. See other acceptable documents.
  • Pay a non-refundable fee valid for five years with a credit card, money order, company check or certified/cashier’s check.
    • New applicant: $124.00
    • New applicant reduced rate: $93.00*
    • In-Person renewal: $124.00
    • Online renewal: $116.00
    • Replacement card: $60.00
  • You can have your card mailed to your home address or you can pick it up at the application center. You can check your status online at any time.
