PortMiami Business Permits

In order to conduct business at PortMiami in accordance with rules and requirements of the Port Tariff Adobe Acrobat Logo, the Port Director and the Miami-Dade County Code, companies are expected to comply with all applicable local, state and federal regulations.
Companies must obtain a permit to perform stevedoring activities at PortMiami, valid from January 14 through January 13 of the following year. Individuals must be licensed to perform stevedoring activities within Miami-Dade County.
Ground transportation companies operating at PortMiami must hold an active business permit and enroll in the GTS Go-Pass program. Permits ensure compliance with Port regulations and companies may qualify for lower trip fees through the Account Replenishment System.
Ship agents conducting business at PortMiami must obtain a business permit and comply with all applicable regulations. Required documentation includes a permit application, proof of insurance and a payment guarantee of at least $20,000.
Cartage and trucking companies must obtain a business permit to operate at PortMiami in compliance with local and federal regulations. Companies may also enroll in the Pre-paid Scale Program to reduce cargo gate wait times.
Car rental non-concessionaire businesses must obtain a permit to operate at PortMiami in compliance with local regulations. Required documents include a permit application, proof of insurance, vehicle schedule, business license, and proof of operating authority.
All food truck companies operating at PortMiami are required to have an active business permit. A business permit allows the holder to conduct business at PortMiami in accordance with rules and requirements of the Port Tariff, the Port Director and the Miami-Dade County Code.

General Requirements

  • Proof of Insurance
    • All companies must provide a certificate of insurance, which names Miami-Dade County Risk Management & PortMiami as both certificate holder and additional insured as it pertains to company operations while in Miami-Dade County
    • General liability or vehicle liability per occurrence of minimum $100,000/$300,000 total liability and $50,000 property damage
  • Local Business license / Corporation's Articles of Incorporation
