Employee of the Year Awards

Employee of the Year Awards

PortMiami would like to acknowledge the nominees and winners of the PortMiami Employee of the Year award. Out of the eleven nominees, two were chosen to receive this honor. Each of these employees stood out for their productivity and drive every day. The two presented with this award were Mr. Ronald Fox and Ms. Dionisia Whitfield.

Mr. Fox went above and beyond his duties as Capital Inventory Clerk. Continuously arriving at work with a positive and professional attitude, he is an asset to the Finance Division and to PortMiami.

As Seaport Superintendent, Ms. Dionisia Whitfield models what it means to be a dedicated employee. Her professionalism and knowledge have allowed her to build a relationship with her team that is beyond reach.

In addition to the Employee of the Year award, Director Juan Kuryla named Mrs. Alissa Penaloza Executive Employee of the Year. Her sedulous work ethic as Manager of Seaport Planning and Grants makes her an excellent candidate for this award.

Congratulations to these three hardworking members of the PortMiami Team!

Luis R. Ibarra

On behalf of the PortMiami family, I want to thank Safety and Security Supervisor Luis R. Ibarra for his 35 years of dedication and excellent service to Miami-Dade County and PortMiami.

Luis, we all appreciate your efforts and loyalty to PortMiami.  You are a valued member of the Safety and Security Division and the entire port team.  Thank you for all that you’ve done and for your ongoing commitment to the Port’s success.

Renee Jones

Renee Jones

Renee is not only an outstanding and dedicated member of our PortMiami team and her family, but a champion for life. She tragically lost her 19-year old son, Trevin Reddick, four years ago in a drive-by shooting. At the time, she made the courageous decision to donate his organs not realizing the impact her choice would have on the lives of the recipient and his family. I’m truly honored to have her as a friend.

We love you Renee!

Stephen A. Wingard - International Longshoreman Association

Steven Wingate

Mr. Wingard was singled out by a couple cruising on the Oceania Regatta for exceeding our cruise guest’s customer service expectations and going the extra mile.

The couple stated: “We would like to commend the services we received from Stephen A. Wingard, one of your baggage handlers, two days ago when we disembarked from the Oceania Regatta.

Not only did he take our luggage to the parking garage and load it in the car, he noticed we had a flat tire. On his own time, when he could have been helping others with their bags, (and receiving tips,) he raced back and forth to get us help, and finally, obtained a jack, and replaced our spare tire so we could get safely home to West Palm Beach.

This was service "above and beyond." We offered him a tip for his time and trouble which he initially declined until we pressed it on him. He is the kind of employee of whom you should be proud."

PortMiami is proud of its continued strong working relationship with ILA Local 1416 and would like to congratulate Mr. Stephen A. Wingard on going the “extra mile” and providing exceptional customer service to our cruise guests.
