Register for the Mayor's Cup Flag Football Tournament

Miami-Dade Parks will host a FREE county wide flag football tournament for kids ages 14 & under during the 1st Annual Miami Football Festival on July 26 at Tropical Park.

2014 Achievement Awards

NACoThe National Association of Counties (NACo) granted Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces with two 2014 Achievement Awards for its programs titled Youth Sports Championship Series and BIKE305.

The National Association of Counties (NACo) is the only national organization that represents county governments in the United States. NACo promotes sound public policies, fosters county solutions and innovation, promotes intergovernmental and public-private collaboration and provides value-added services to save counties and taxpayers money.


Zoofari Summer Camp

ZoofariKids, ages 4-13, can spend the summer at the Zoo interacting with animals and zookeepers.  Camps will be held June 16 – August 8, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. with extended care available. Pre-registration is required and space is limited.

Bowling fundraiser on July 18 aims to spare rhinos

RhinosDust off those bowling balls, grab the family, and join the South Florida Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers on Friday, July 18, 2014 from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. at Bird Bowl Bowling Center for a special night to help save rhinos!

The $25 per bowler registration fee and $15 per child under 12 includes shoe rental, pizza, and soda. 100% of all funds raised go directly toward rhino conservation in Asia and Africa.

Heads Up: Concussion in youth sports

To help ensure the health and safety of young athletes, CDC developed the Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports initiative to offer information about concussions to coaches, parents, and athletes involved in youth sports.

The Heads Up initiative provides important information on preventing, recognizing, and responding to a concussion. It's Better to Miss One Game Than the Whole Season!



Walkability in Miami-Dade County

The video focuses showing effects of health on creating a walkable neighborhood. It touches on the dangers of our city becoming car-centric.

In addition, the video shows how Miami already has neighborhoods based on walkable designs and community participation in the promotion of healthy neighborhoods. See this is a short public health video focused on Walkability in Miami-Dade County.
