Miami Watersports Complex opening at Amelia Earhart Park

The grand opening of the Miami Watersports Complex will be on March 27-28 at 8 a.m., with the debut of the 2015 Monster Energy WWA Wake Park Triple Crown (#MEWPTC), and a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by District 13 Commissioner Esteban Bovo, Jr. on March 28, at noon.

Spring Break Camps underway!

Keep your kids active, fit and engaged during the school break with Spring Break Camps. Camps will be held March 23-27, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., with early drop-off available at 7:30 a.m. and late pick-up until 6 p.m.

Be part of all the fun at Miami-Dade Parks next summer

Applications will be accepted beginning Feb. 23 - March 22, for a variety of summer jobs including pool managers, lifeguards, swim instructors, park service aides and recreation leaders. Individuals must be at least 17 years old to apply.

Tropical Park goes medieval

The 8th Annual Miami International Agriculture, Horse & Cattle Show returns to the Ronald Reagan Equestrian Center at Tropical Park, April 10 - 12. See a cavalcade of livestock, enjoy a farm experience and petting zoo, Car Show, Food Trucks and more! Admission is $3, kids ages 12 and under are free.

Registration now open for Summer Camps

Summer Camps will be held June 8 - August 14 Monday - Friday, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., with early drop-off available at 7:30 a.m. and late pick-up at 6 p.m.

Spring Break Camp for teens at Westwind Lakes Park

Thanks to the partnership between Miami-Dade Parks and Commissioner Zapata, teens ages 14-19 are welcome to hang out in a safe and fun environment at Westwind Lakes Park during Spring Break, March 23- 27, from 6 - 10 p.m.

Planned activities:

  • 6 p.m. - Open skating with portable DJ system provided by Luis personal home equipment.
  • 7 p.m. - Pizza/ice cream party
  • 8 p.m. - Skate board competition
  • 9 p.m. - Kickball game on the soccer field

Activities are subject to change, please check back for updates.

Park's adaptive sports program for disabled vets

Miami-Dade County’s Disability Services Division was granted nearly $23,000 from the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs to expand and aid its COVERT program (Connecting the Outdoors with Veterans through Education, Recreation and Training). Trap Shooting is available at Trail Glades Shooting Range, 10 a.m. - noon, Wednesdays through Friday and Hand Cycling is available at Tropical Park, 10 a.m. - noon on Tuesdays through April 28.

Heads Up: Concussion in youth sports

To help ensure the health and safety of young athletes, CDC developed the Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports initiative to offer information about concussions to coaches, parents, and athletes involved in youth sports.

The Heads Up initiative provides important information on preventing, recognizing, and responding to a concussion. It's Better to Miss One Game Than the Whole Season!



Walkability in Miami-Dade County
