Volunteer at Parks
From volunteering to summer camps, to kayaking tours, Park Link connects you to your next park adventure. All volunteer opportunities currently being offered are available on Park Link in the volunteer opportunities tab.
Miami-Dade Parks Leadership and Community Engagement (PLACE) Program provides a variety of service opportunities for individuals, community/civic groups, schools and corporate entities who are interested in volunteering their time and donating resources to benefit our park system. PLACE Program volunteers can be found across the park system making a difference through these unique service programming categories:
Park Site Volunteers
This is the perfect category for those who are searching for individual volunteer opportunities. Great for high school students, college service-learning students, court-mandated volunteers and other individuals looking to fulfill community service requirements. Volunteers in this category sign up to provide operational support across various placements throughout the park system. Park site volunteers typically commit a minimum of 20 hours of service and are subject to background screenings. Park Site volunteers work closely with park staff and follow social distancing protocols and CDC guidelines in place at all Miami-Dade County Park facilities.
Park Conservation Corps
This is a signature group of volunteers who are provided with opportunities to learn about the past, present and future state of our parks system through various educational sessions and interactive park beautification projects. The group was inspired by the spirit of the U.S Civilian Conservation Corps of the 1930s which helped build many of our local roads and heritage parks. Park Conservation Corp members come together to volunteer and become ambassadors of our park system. Recruitment is currently not active. Please subscribe to our email list for updates.
Adopt-A-Park Group Volunteers
This service option matches groups interested in donating resources, volunteer labor, in-kind materials and monetary contributions, with park enhancement needs. We also offer groups the opportunity to adopt specific park sites and natural areas. Options are available for one day or one year, for any groups larger than 10. Volunteers may be subject to background screenings. Fill out our Group Volunteering Request form to provide us with information on your group.
Park Service Days and Event Support Volunteers
These one-day community-wide service events take place throughout the year and are perfect for individuals who are looking to volunteer for a few hours at Miami-Dade Parks. Park Service Days and Special Events are happening every week, at dozens of different park locations. Visit Park Link to see what's on the calendar. Event participants are provided with great family-friendly opportunities that can range from beautification and plantings to environmental stewardship and conservation, all while building community.
Disaster Recovery Volunteer Team
Interested in working on recovery efforts that benefit our parks after a natural disaster? Fill out the application to become a member of the Miami-Dade County Parks Disaster Recovery Volunteer Team, which will be activated following a hurricane or other disaster. Shifts and availability will be confirmed following a disaster recovery volunteer activation.
Coastal Cleanup Series
Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces makes it our year-round mission to make a difference, educating and engaging citizens in stewardship, preservation, conservation and resiliency efforts for these precious coastal habitats.
Community volunteers are essential to the success of these cleanup efforts. Be part of the solution to coastal pollution by pitching in for a Miami-Dade Parks coastal cleanup.
To participate, volunteers must first create a volunteer account online at Miami-Dade Parks Park Link. There select the category Volunteer Opportunities then select the sub-category Park Service Day Volunteers and view all the available coastal cleanup volunteer activities taking place in the next couple of months.
For more information about these coastal cleanups and other volunteer opportunities available across the county park system visit Park Link or call Miami-Dade Parks Community & Volunteer Engagement Unit at 305-755-7939.
