Turtle Rangers on Patrol with New “Turtle Truck”
Miami-Dade County Parks'Sea Turtle Conservation Program has successfully documented more than 6,886 sea turtle nests and released more than 585,000 live hatchlings to the sea, since it started the program in 1980.
Florida Governor Rick Scott Honors Miami-Dade Parks with 2013 Sustained Excellence Award
Governor Rick Scott and the Florida Sterling Council have announced the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department (MDPROS) will be honored with the Governor's prestigious Sustained Excellence Award for 2013.
The coveted award will be bestowed at the 2013 Governor's Sterling Award Banquet at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes on Friday, May 31, 2013.
May is Water Safety Month in Miami-Dade!
Miami-Dade County Parks is partnering with the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade to heighten public awareness about the urgency for all youth to receive water safety instruction and swimming lessons to prevent drowning. Families are encouraged to attend these free Summer Safety Splash events and register their kids for Miami-Dade County Parks' ''Learn-to-Swim'' classes.

Registration Starts May 1 for Miami-Dade Parks' Fit2 Play, Green-It-Up Summer Camps!
Exciting Summer Camps are being offered by the Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department, June 10 through August 16, 2013, at its parks around the County. Programs are affordable and fully-supervised.
There's fitness, sports, nature-encounters, arts and crafts, field trips and more! Camp hours: 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m., with early drop-off/ late pick-up available. Miami Dade Parks provides inclusion services for children with disabilities who want to attend typical summer camps.
Summer Cabaret Concert Series at the Deering Estate
The Deering Estate at Cutler's Summer Cabaret Concert Series features intimate concerts inside the historic Stone House Ballroom. The 2013 series kicks-off on Saturday, June 15th with Kirk Green.

To help ensure the health and safety of young athletes, CDC developed the Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports initiative to offer information about concussions to coaches, parents, and athletes involved in youth sports.
