As of November 2015 the North Parking Lot (294 parking spaces) with 33 handicap parking spaces is open to the public. Patrons are now able to access the beach through the tunnel utilizing the accessible ramp, a highly anticipated new feature.
Construction of the dry rack storage facility and parking lot renovations started on July 2014 and a full opening is tentatively scheduled for August 2016.
In the interim, parking is available in the following areas:
- Lot #1 – Requires walking through a tunnel and up a flight of stairs.
- Lot #2 – Requires walking through a tunnel and up a flight of stairs.
- Lot #3 – No stairs.
- Lot #4 – No stairs.
Lifeguard Headquarters Building – There is handicapped parking at this facility on the east side of Collins Avenue. Spaces generally fill by 10:00 a.m., due to heavy demand. As an alternative, patrons arriving as passengers and in need of assistance, may consider being dropped off in this area, while the vehicle they arrived in is parked in Lot #1.
Additional accessible parking spaces are located in Lot #3 and Lot #4 (south beach parking area, near jetty) and provides access to the beach, picnic areas, restroom and showers, dog beach area, and dog park.
