Miami-Dade County Women's Hall of Fame

The Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners established the Miami-Dade County Women’s Hall of Fame in 2021 to recognize and honor women who have improved the quality of life of individuals and communities throughout Miami-Dade County. The Hall of Fame honors women who have made significant contributions to the improvement of life for women and for all residents of Miami-Dade County and preserves the legacies of important women whose contributions to Miami-Dade County should not be forgotten.

2025 Inductees

Daniella Levine Cava

Daniella Levine Cava
Daniella Levine Cava is Miami-Dade County’s first woman Mayor, elected in 2020 and re-elected in 2024. A longtime attorney, social worker and community advocate, she has dedicated more than four decades to improving the lives of South Florida families and strengthening Miami-Dade County.

Rosie Cordero-Stutz

Rosie Cordero-Stutz
Rosie Cordero-Stutz made history in 2025 as Miami-Dade County’s first female Sheriff. With more than 30 years of law enforcement experience, she is recognized for her commitment to public safety, professionalism and community trust.

Alina Garcia

Alina Garcia
Alina Garcia was elected in 2024 as Miami-Dade County’s first constitutionally elected Supervisor of Elections. A former State Representative, she has spent more than three decades serving the community and promoting integrity, accountability and public service.

Gloria Estefan

Jeanettte Nuñez

Jeanette Nunez
Jeanette M. Nuñez serves as President of Florida International University and previously served as Florida’s Lieutenant Governor. Throughout her career, she has championed education, innovation, economic development and public service.

Madeline Pumariega

Madeline Pumariega
Madeline Pumariega is the first woman to serve as President of Miami Dade College, one of the nation’s largest higher education institutions. She previously served as Chancellor of the Florida College System and has dedicated her career to expanding educational opportunity and student success.

Nominations

The Miami-Dade County Commission for Women submits its recommendations to the Chair of the Board of County Commissioners by the end of February. The Chairperson of the Board may add additional recommendations to those received from the Miami-Dade County Commission for Women. The Chairperson shall then forwards no fewer than five recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners. The Board of County Commissioners may then selects, by ballot during the next available regularly scheduled Board of County Commissioners meeting, up to three persons from the recommendations for membership to the Miami-Dade County Women’s Hall of Fame.

Nominees selected for membership to the Miami-Dade County Women’s Hall of Fame in a given year shall be honored at an induction ceremony to take place in the Board of County Commissioner’s chambers during regularly scheduled Board of County Commissioners meeting. The Office of the Chair of the Board of County Commissioners will plan the induction ceremony in collaboration and coordination with the Miami-Dade County Commission for Women. Eventually, the nominees will be displayed in a physical location for public viewing.

About Us

The Miami-Dade County Commission for Women was established in 1971 to serve as an advisory board to the Board of County Commissioners, the County Administration and the public at large about all matters pertaining to the status of women. The Commission for Women is responsible for accepting nominations to the Miami-Dade County Women’s Hall of Fame and for making recommendations for membership.
