The Office of Innovation and Economic Development (OIED) partners with the private sector to drive local investment and equitable growth for our region’s sustained economic health. This work is centered on key focus areas including: Agriculture, Film & Entertainment (FilMiami), Economic Development Resources, International Business, and Marketing Partnerships.
Initiatives
Agriculture
Miami-Dade's agricultural industry generated more than$1.14 billion in sales in 2022. The agriculture team focuses on sustainable growth through policy advocacy, disease management, and community engagement. Key initiatives include illegal truck parking policies, land use assessments, and compliance agreements.
FilMiami
FilMiami is a comprehensive film commission offering location services, permitting, government liaison services, and production support. It fosters an environment for the film and TV industry to thrive, aiming to make Miami-Dade a global hub for entertainment.
Marketing Partnerships
The Marketing Partnerships Program is a countywide sponsorship initiative. External entities invest in the County for access to marketing potential tied to select County assets. Partnerships include naming rights to facilities and exclusive product/service providers for amenities like EV charging stations and hand sanitizing kiosks.
International Business
OIED's International Business team strengthens global ties through curating business development missions, supporting business delegations, and managing foreign affairs that lead to foreign direct investment opportunities.
Economic Development Resources
The economic development resources team works to leverage public and private resources to support local business retention and expansion while ensuring Miami-Dade County remains highly competitive for business relocation. This includes administering GOB Bond financing and economic development incentive programs.
Economic Data Snapshot
The Economic Data Snapshot is a dashboard that informs the public and business community about the County’s economic status and growth prospects. It provides essential data to residents, businesses, and service providers and highlights small business opportunities.
SENIOR EXECUTIVE ORIENTATION
Miami-Dade County and The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce offer an integrated onboarding program for Presidents and Chief Executive Officers of companies recently relocated to the Greater Miami region.
