Proud to serve our County residents and employees

Djuro Gargurevich, HR
As someone who prefers to remain behind the scenes, Labor Relations & Employee Records' Djuro Gargurevich was humbled by a recent commendation shared with his Division head.

In 2006, Mr. Gargurevich began his County career by working with the Elections Department. "After a few years, I knew I would have a good job with great benefits, as well as the opportunity to help and serve the community," he said. "I didn’t realize how much I would enjoy the work and learn to value how information management and recordkeeping are essential to good government."

In 2015, Djuro began working in the Human Resources Department. "Since my first day in HR, I was blessed to be mentored by a professional who believed in me, Eliel Flores. He helped me learn all the ins and outs. We worked as a team and members of the unit always supported one another," Djuro said. "Our unit is tasked with locating important documents on a daily basis. We provide support to County Attorneys as well as to members of the public with all kinds of legal concerns. Providing the required documents is often critical."

A County resident recently shared her experience and appreciation for Djuro’s assistance. “I had to subpoena some very old microfiche records and I was lucky enough to be helped by Djuro. He was so responsive, diligent and thorough in both his communication with me and the actual production of records. I knew where we were in the process every step of the way.  He called me personally to let me know the project was on track and provided realistic expectations about when the work would be completed. He answered all of my crazy questions and also helped me get in touch with a separate Miami-Dade County department that I also needed records from.”

The resident went on to say, “He certainly went above and beyond to help and his outstanding work ethic reflects well on Miami-Dade County. Most significantly, Djuro is extremely personable and helpful, which is refreshing in today’s fast-paced world.”

At Human Resources, staff and team members agree with her assessment of his contributions and work quality.  “You are very fortunate to have such a wonderful person as a member of your team,” she added.

As it happens, Mr. Gargurevich's mentor recently retired from County service and Djuro was appointed HR Support Services Manager. We know that his mentor would be very proud.
