Back to school, back to helping students thrive

Back-to-school season can be a stressful time for those families that don't have the necessary resources to buy school supplies. Having the right supplies can help kids feel more confident and excited about the new school year and prepare them for academic success.

With that in mind, the Internal Services Department’s (ISD) Small Business Development division (SBD) hosted its annual back-to-school “Gear Up” donation drive. ISD/SBD staff and Miami-Dade residents collected and donated 60 backpacks and sets of school supplies for local students.

The supplies were donated to the Downtown Miami Charter School to ensure that all children have the same opportunity to start the school year on the right foot. The drive was a huge success, providing students and their families with necessary school supplies and promoting healthy learning and academic achievements.

This is the fifth year ISD/SBD undertakes this incredible effort. Their team is committed to creating opportunities in our community and assisting local and small businesses. This effort will help children to grow and become our County's future entrepreneurs and business owners, or whatever they aspire to be.

Thank you to the SBD team for your generosity and commitment to help communities in need. We wish a happy and successful school year to all students.
