The Commission for Women is accepting nominations for women who have significantly contributed to improving the lives of women and residents of Miami-Dade County and preserves the legacies of important women whose contributions to Miami-Dade County should not be forgotten. Nominations will be accepted through May 31.
Nominations include general information and a description of the nominee’s work and qualifications, including the nominee’s significant and enduring community contributions. Nominees may be living or deceased and self-nominations are accepted.
The Miami-Dade County Commission for Women submits its recommendations to the Chair of the Board of County Commissioners by the end of February. The Board Chairperson may add recommendations to those received from the Miami-Dade County Commission for Women. The Chairperson shall then forward five recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners. The Board of County Commissioners may then select, by ballot during the next available regularly scheduled Board of County Commissioners meeting, up to three persons from the recommendations for membership to the Miami-Dade County Women’s Hall of Fame.
Those selected for membership in the Miami-Dade County Women’s Hall of Fame will be honored at an induction ceremony during a regularly scheduled County Commission meeting later this year and will be permanently recognized at the planned Women’s Hall of Fame, which will be located at The Women’s Park, 10251 West Flagler Street, Miami.
