Miami-Dade County Parks celebrates Park(ing) day

Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces is joining a global movement to reimagine urban spaces with Park(ing) Day on Sept. 19 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Brickell Metrorail Station. The event temporarily converts parking spots into vibrant public spaces, inviting the community to engage in walking, biking, socializing and interactive activities.

Park(ing) Day began in San Francisco in 2005 and now advocates worldwide for safer, greener, and more equitable streets. Miami-Dade Parks is partnering with organizations including the Transportation Planning Organization, Department of Transportation and Public Works, Bike305, Miami-Dade Public Schools, the Public Library System, The Underline, Transit Alliance Miami and the Downtown Development Authority to make the event possible. The event is free and open to all. Nearby parking is extremely limited, attendees are encouraged to use Metrorail, Metromover, and The Underline for easy access.
