Educational Programs

Educational and recreational programs for student visitors can be customized to your liking. Here are some programs to consider.

Archery
For students age 9 and older. Participants will get instruction on proper safety techniques, how to shoot and get to practice their aim.

Bat Walk
Participants will get a first-hand look at the bats living at Camp Owaissa Bauer. During this night hike, we will be looking for a variety of nocturnal creatures while discussing their role in our ecosystem.

Caves & Trails
Put on your hiking shoes and get ready to play "I Spy Natural Wonders." Trek through the Pine Rockland then cool down and explore the Caves. The Caves are 17 1/2 feet deep, which students can climb down into and explore!

Geocaching 101
Learn the exciting world of treasure hunting using GPS, compasses and other technology to locate hidden caches. In this program, campers ages 8 and older get to learn firsthand how to geocache while exploring our Hardwood Hammock.

Reptiles Rock
Students will get an up-close, hands-on look at snakes, lizards, bugs and more! They will also learn about their habitat, what they eat and where they live.

Snails and Trails
Join us on the hunt to find the elusive Linguus Tree Snails that call Camp Owaissa Bauer home. Learn about the gastropods that inhabit South Florida and the mysteries that surround them.

Wings and Things
Learn about the winged wonders that call Camp Owaissa Bauer home. In this program, students will discover the vast number of birds that you can find in South Florida. They will learn the similarities and differences between bats and owls, discover their role in our ecosystem, and learn how these magnificent creatures have adapted to changing environments.

X Marks the Spot
Help find Black Caesar's Lost Treasure! Students will use a compass, map and their listening skills to find hidden pirate markers to find the treasure.
