Congresswoman Frederica Wilson, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Commissioner Micky Steinberg to join a ground-breaking ceremony for senior affordable housing development Oasis at Aventura
The groundbreaking is hosted by Miami-Dade County’s Department of Public Housing and Community Development, Housing Trust Group (HTG) and AM Affordable Housing
MIAMI, FL - On Monday, February 12, 2024, Congresswoman Frederica Wilson, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Commissioner Micky Steinberg will join a ground-breaking ceremony for an affordable housing development for older adults in Aventura. Oasis at Aventura, located at 18700 NE 25th Avenue, will be an eight-story residential affordable building with 95 affordable senior apartments being developed by the Housing Trust Group (HTG) and a joint venture with AM Affordable Housing, a non-profit founded by NBA Hall of Famer and Miami Heat legend Alonzo Mourning.
Apartments at Oasis are reserved for seniors who must be of an age 62 years and older, whose income must be at or below 25%, 33%, and/or 60% of the area median income (AMI). Rents will range between $484 to $1,161. Among the 95 apartments, there will be eight units under the Section 8 project-based voucher program.
Oasis is certified by the National Green Building Standard, which will have energy-efficient lighting and appliances. It will also have a variety of amenities such as a multipurpose community room, state-of-the-art fitness center, business center, library, and lounge area with a big open outdoor terrace. It is estimated that construction will be completed by the Spring of 2025.
Miami-Dade County provided the Oasis project with $2.4 million in funding from the Affordable Housing Surtax Program.
