Pedestrian killed in fatal collision with private school bus.
The Miami-Dade Police Department's Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal traffic accident involving a privately owned school bus and a pedestrian that left one woman dead.
According to detectives, on November 20th, 2024, at approximately 8:25 a.m., officers from the City of Sweetwater Police Department responded to the area of SW 109th Avenue & SW 3rd Street in reference to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a severely injured adult female laying in the roadway, a privately owned school bus, and its driver. The injured pedestrian was transported to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital by Miami Dade Fire Rescue where she was pronounced deceased. The driver of the school bus remained on scene and is fully cooperating with the investigation. Preliminary investigation reveals that the school bus was travelling east on SW 3rd Street from SW 109th Avenue when the collision with the pedestrian occurred. The exact cause of the collision remains under investigation.
The investigation continues.
