This year&rsquo;s residency marks an exciting new chapter, as we welcome artists from diverse disciplines to work side-by-side in the Carriage House and Power House studios. Through this collaborative model, artists will be encouraged to explore interdisciplinary approaches, share resources, and develop new work that speaks to the rich history and environment of the Deering Estate. This shift aligns with our mission to serve as an incubator for creativity and community engagement while nurturing the careers of emerging and mid-career artists.</p> <p>The selection process for the 2025 Artist-in-Residence Program was conducted by a panel of distinguished jurors from diverse backgrounds in science and the arts: Dr. Amy Galpin, Executive Director and Chief Curator of the Museum of Art and Design at Miami Dade College; Houston Cypress, artist and founder of Love The Everglades Movement; and Ana Rojas, Conservation and Research Specialist at Deering Estate.</p> <p>These esteemed jurors played an integral role in evaluating the highly competitive pool of applicants, ensuring that the selected artists represent both the highest level of artistic merit and a commitment to engaging with the public through innovative and dynamic programming.</p> <p><strong>We are thrilled to introduce the 2025 Artist-in-Residence recipients:</strong></p> <p>Visual Artists <a href="https://www.donaaltemus.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dona Altemus</a>, <a href="https://andrescabreraart.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Andres Cabrera-Garcia</a>, <a href="https://www.andreaclement.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Andrea Clement</a>, <a href="https://gianninadwin.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Giannina Dwin</a>, <a href="https://tony-fernandez.pixpa.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tony Fernandez</a>, <a href="https://www.jessicagispert.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jessica (Yesica) Gispert</a>, <a href="https://www.annagoraczko.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Anna Goraczko</a>, <a href="https://www.charleshumesjr.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Charles Humes, Jr.</a>, <a href="https://www.jeannejaffe.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jeanne Jaffe</a>, <a href="https://emersondorsch.com/artist/karen-rifas/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Karen Rifas</a>, <a href="https://www.saizfineart.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Enma Saiz</a>, <a href="https://www.lissetteschaeffler.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lissette Schaeffler</a>, <a href="https://www.gretchenscharnagl.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gretchen Scharnagl</a>, <a href="https://megwallace.art/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Meg Wallace</a>, <a href="https://carolinazuniga.cargo.site/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Carolina Zuniga</a>; Literary Artist <a href="https://saintfrancess.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Francess Archer Dunbar</a>; and Movement Artist <a href="https://nicolepedraza.my.canva.site/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nicole Pedraza</a>.</p> <p>These artists will participate in public programs, including lectures, workshops, and open studio events, offering the community opportunities to engage with their work throughout the residency year.
