Update: NW 22nd Avenue Bridge undergoing initial repairs, future closure required for final upgrades
The Miami-Dade County’s Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) is conducting critical repairs on the NW 22nd Avenue Bridge following its closure on February 6, 2025. The bridge, which was initially placed under traffic restrictions on January 28, is expected to reopen in approximately four weeks once the first phase of repairs is completed.
A second closure will be required to finalize additional structural upgrades. The timeline for this phase will be determined after the initial repairs are complete. The decision to restrict traffic and perform repairs was made out of an abundance of caution after a routine inspection uncovered a deficiency in a key structural component.
DTPW appreciates the public’s patience and understanding as this important work is completed. Motorists are encouraged to use the NW 27th Avenue Bridge as an alternate route. Marine traffic remains unaffected.
