Miami-Dade County’s “Potholepalooza” street repair program expands into Commission District 12

Miami-Dade County’s Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) continues its innovative “Potholepalooza” street repair pilot program in Miami-Dade County Commission District 12, from March 17th through May 17, 2025. This initiative, designed to expedite pothole repairs, has successfully addressed more than 1,200 pothole repairs since its launch in 2023.  
 
“Safety is our top priority and maintaining the integrity of our roads aligns with our Vision Zero mission of eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2040,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava . “By bringing Potholepalooza to District 12, we are taking proactive steps toward safer streets and more efficient infrastructure, working hand-in-hand with our residents.” 

Potholes often appear during rainy seasons. While minor repairs can be completed quickly, more extensive damage may require scheduled reconstruction. Some potholes may have to be added to resurfacing plans on a future date if simple repairs are not possible. 

“While potholes may be a fact of life, that doesn’t mean we have to live with them! During Potholepalooza, we’re hitting the streets—literally—to tackle these road bumps head-on,” said Commissioner Juan Carlos Bermudez, Miami-Dade County District 12. “Our goal is to smooth out the ride in District 12, ensuring safer and better roads for our community. Investing in infrastructure isn’t just about fixing potholes — it’s about improving daily life, one patch at a time. I’m excited to support this initiative and keep our district moving smoothly!"

The success of the “Potholepalooza” program relies heavily on community participation. Residents are encouraged to report any potholes or street issues by calling 311 or 305-468-5900. Additionally, reports can be submitted through the 311 Direct app. Providing detailed information ensures DTPW can locate and address each pothole. Upon processing a report, the County aims to complete repairs within seven days.
