Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) will hold a Celebration of Life service to honor Capt.
William “Bill” V. Gustin's life on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 11:30 a.m., at the Kaseya
Center.
<p>Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) will hold a Celebration of Life service to honor
Capt. William “Bill” V. Gustin's life on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 11:30
a.m., at the Kaseya Center.</p>
<p>The community, colleagues, friends and family will be attending the service to
pay their respects and celebrate the life of Capt. William “Bill” V. Gustin.
A guiding light in the fire service community, his passion for learning, dedication
to safety and leadership will live on in the thousands of firefighters he mentored
and trained, the countless lives he touched, and the fire service he so dearly loved
and transformed over an extraordinary career that spanned nearly five decades.</p>

Parking: Parking for media will be available in the P2 parking garage for free except
for TV trucks, which can park in the Watson Lot outside of the Command Center.

<p class="MsoNormal">We protect people, property and the environment by providing
proactive responsive professional and humanitarian fire rescue services essential
to public health, safety and well-being.</p>

<p>We have 71 fire-rescue stations within unincorporated Miami-Dade County and serve
29 municipalities. We have response units dedicated to air rescue service, ocean rescue,
fire and rescue operations, marine, hazardous materials (HazMat), urban search and
rescue (US&R), technical rescue, and venom response.</p>
<p>Our rescue services include aero-medical transport to trauma centers and other
medical facilities. Our air rescue helicopters are also used to perform search and
rescue missions, and firefighting and reconnaissance operations involving large incidents,
such as wildfires and major fires.</p>
<p>We also have full-time and part-time professional lifeguards protecting Haulover
and Crandon beaches.</p>
<p>We support disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation needs. We
operate the County's Emergency Operation Center (EOC) which coordinates emergency
response and recovery plans, decisions, and operations in order to maximize the use
of resources within Miami-Dade County.</p>
