Miami-Dade Parks breaks ground on $21.5M state-of-the-art recreation center at Chuck Pezoldt Park
The Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department is proud to announce the groundbreaking of a $21.5M state-of-the-art recreation center and library at Chuck Pezoldt Park. This exciting project will create a vibrant new community hub designed to foster engagement, recreation, and lifelong learning. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place on April 17, 2025, at 10AM at Chuck Pezoldt Park, located at 16555 SW 157th Ave, Miami.
The new recreation center will feature a welcoming lobby with comfortable seating areas and a cafe, creating a dynamic social space for visitors to gather and connect. It will include a flexible exercise and multipurpose rooms for fitness activities, events, and community programs, as well as a large, fenced courtyard with an Art in Public Places installation, that will provide an outdoor recreational area that reflects Miami-Dade Parks' commitment to fostering a space that promotes environmental awareness and education for all who visit.
The new Miami-Dade Public Library System branch library will offer engaging spaces for all ages, including a Main Reading Room, a “You Space” YOUmedia space, a Kids' Reading Room, and a Young Adults' Reading Room. It will also feature study rooms focused on learning and collaboration.
The project is expected to be completed by September 14, 2026, bringing a new era of recreation, education, and community engagement to Chuck Pezoldt Park. We invite the community to join us for this groundbreaking ceremony, where Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners Vice Chairman Kionne L. McGhee and Miami-Dade Parks Director Maria I. Nardi will deliver remarks highlighting the positive impact these improvements will have on the local community.
