Miami-Dade’s Department of Transportation and Public Works presented Mobility Champion Awards during CoMotion MIAMI
Today, the Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) presented its third annual Mobility Champion Awards during CoMotion MIAMI 2025, a renowned international gathering of transportation thought leaders. The Mobility Champion recognition program distinguishes individuals, companies, non-profits, and municipalities that are accelerating innovative transportation and mobility solutions for residents and industry.
"Our Mobility Champions are driving Miami-Dade into the future! These honorees are bold thinkers that exemplify vision, creativity, and commitment,” said Miami-Dade County mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “I am proud to recognize their outstanding contributions that are laying the foundation for a stronger, more accessible Miami-Dade."
“We are fortunate to have tireless leaders and organizations that are championing mobility improvements and innovations that bring lasting benefits to our community,” said DTPW Director Stacy Miller. “Recognizing them as Mobility Champions at CoMotion in the presence of global disruptors and innovators makes it even more special.”
This year’s honorees underscore Miami-Dade County’s pivotal role in shaping the future of transportation and mobility.
Individual Awards
Miami-Dade County Vice Chairman Kionne L. McGhee – for being a champion and supporter of the Department of Transportation and Public Works and its employees, especially in leading the way for transit-oriented communities in his district and countywide.
Miami-Dade County Commissioner Marleine Bastien - for being a longtime champion and supporter of the Department of Transportation and Public Works especially in helping improve transit services, connecting the department with residents and key stakeholders and partnering on important community activations along our major transit corridors such as the 2025 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.
Miami-Dade County Commissioner Micky Steinberg - for being a champion and supporter of the Department of Transportation and Public Works especially in helping improve transit services, connecting the department with residents and key stakeholders and promoting transit use. Her role as a county leader has been central in the success of DTPW’s initiatives.
Miami-Dade County Commissioner Kevin Cabrera - for being a champion and supporter of the Department of Transportation and Public Works especially in helping improve transit and transportation in his District and Countywide and connecting the department with residents and key stakeholders. He too has been a tireless supporter of major public works projects.
Miami-Dade County Commissioner Roberto J. Gonzalez - for being a champion and supporter of the Department of Transportation and Public Works especially in helping improve transit and transportation in his District and Countywide and connecting the department with residents and key stakeholders. He too has been a tireless supporter of major public works projects.
Sen. René Garcia - for being a longtime champion and supporter of the Department of Transportation and Public Works especially in helping improve transit and transportation in his District and Countywide and connecting the department with residents and key stakeholders. He has always been a stalwart supporter of major public works projects.
Organizational Awards
The Citizens’ Independent Transportation Trust (CITT) - for being a partner of the Department of Transportation and Public Works. The work of the CITT is critical for Miami-Dade County, public transportation, and the community.
Transit Alliance Miami - for being a partner of the Department of Transportation and Public Works especially for their advocacy and support of using and expanding transit. The organization has also been critical in extending the department’s reach to the grassroots level. Their role was central in the historic reimagination of our bus system.
COMTO Miami Chapter - for being a tireless partner and supporter of the Department of Transportation and Public Works and especially for their advocacy and support of transportation professionals. In addition, for its support of sister departments – PortMiami and Miami-Dade Aviation. The Chapter has also been critical in extending the department’s reach to the grassroots and national levels.
Miami Marlins - for being a partner of the Department of Transportation and Public Works especially for their advocacy and support of using and expanding transit, and the access to its leadership, facilities and mascot to connect with riders.
Past winners include Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Miami-Dade County Board of County Commission Chairman Anthony Rodriguez, Commissioner Eileen Higgins, Commissioner Oliver G, Gilbert III, Commissioner Juan Carlos Bermudez, Commissioner Keon Hardemon, Commissioner Raquel Regalado, and Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins, the University of Miami, Miami Dade College Single Stop Program, UHealth, Jackson Health System, the City of Doral, and social media influencer Caro the Tour Guide.
Congratulations to all distinguished winners. DTPW’s Mobility Champion Award is a recognition of their outstanding leadership on critical transportation initiatives, and their invaluable support of the department and Miami-Dade County.
