Miami-Dade Parks’ BIKE305 leads 23rd annual Ride of Silence
Join Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department’s BIKE305 initiative for the 23rd annual Ride of Silence on Wednesday, May 21, in observance of National Bike Month. This powerful international event brings cyclists together for a silent ride to honor those who have been injured or lost their lives while riding on public roadways.
Participants are encouraged to arrive by 6 p.m. at the Crandon Park Marina parking lot (4000 Crandon Boulevard, Key Biscayne). The evening will begin with welcoming remarks at 6:40 p.m., followed by the silent ride at 7 p.m. sharp. Cyclists of all ages and levels are welcome to join this meaningful ride and hear updates on recent and planned safety enhancements along the Rickenbacker Causeway and across Miami-Dade County.
These efforts are part of the County’s Vision Zero initiative, led by Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, which aims to reduce traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries to zero by implementing safer infrastructure and mobility solutions for both cyclists and pedestrians. Escorted by officers from Miami-Dade County and the Village of Key Biscayne Police Departments, riders will participate in a 9-mile double-lap on Crandon Boulevard. A 4.5-mile single-lap option will also be available for those preferring a shorter route.
As part of the County’s commitment to creating a safer, more connected cycling infrastructure, Miami-Dade Parks continues to advance major off-road trail projects including The Underline, Ludlam Trail, and the Biscayne-Everglades Greenway. These projects aim to connect parks, schools, neighborhoods, business districts, beaches, and transit hubs—making cycling a safer and more viable transportation option.
