Homicide Suspect Taken Into Custody

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at approximately 4:46 P.M., deputies from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) South District responded to 173 Street & Homestead Avenue in reference to a male shot.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered an adult male lying in the roadway, unresponsive and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper extremities. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and transported the male to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

According to investigators the victim was on the roadway behind a local business, when an unknown subject(s) began to shoot towards the victim. The victim was struck multiple times causing him to fall to the ground.

Update #1: Through investigative means, the subject was identified as Horace McQueen Jr. On Friday June 6^, 2025, MDSO Homicide detectives were contacted by the U.S. Marshals Service, Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force who advised that the subject was taken into custody in Jacksonville, Florida. The subject is currently booked into John E. Goode Pre-trial Detention Facility and is pending extradition to Miami-Dade County, where he will be charged with Second-Degree Murder.
